Technical Description
The heat transfer in and around pipes can be investigated using the WL 314.01.
The heat transfer from the pipe wall to the medium is observed. A ring heater simulates the flow inside the pipe, while a rod heater reflects the conditions in the flow around a pipe.
The power and surface temperature of the two electrical heaters are measured and displayed on the base unit WL 314.
Learning Objectives / Experiments
- consideration of the relationships between Nusselt, Reynolds and Prandtl
- determination of heat transfer coefficient
- calculation of the air velocity
